About
I formerly worked in the machine trades; after which, I retuned to school to graduate with a degree in English. New career paths landed me on a university campus where I worked in public and media relations, eventually contributing and coordinating photos as part of a design office.
I consider it a privilege now to make my living in creative work that transforms the physical world into conceptual ideas. I often feel the majority of the work for a good photo happens before the camera comes out. It is a process that asks questions, brainstorms ideas, and looks for symbolic ways at convey the message. I am comfortable in places such as a shop floor and a job site, a classroom, or a solemn ceremony.
The images in the portfolios here were selected to transmit an approach to photography based on the premise that people look their best when they are fully involved in something other than having their picture taken. It is a process where I do not try to stage a photo, but rather try to create an experience that the camera can witness.
